Amongst the newest members of The National Society of Pershing, Sorority Inc. are four young ladies at South Carolina State University. Juliette "Mystique" Prioleau (1P/A S'99), Varnessa "Xena" Tisdale (2 P/A S'99), Shante "Venus" Cooper (3 P/A S'99) and Veronica "Intrigue" Mitchell (4 P/A S'99), were inducted as Pershing Angels in the Spring of 1999.

With initial intentions on becoming P/R's, these ladies, upon further research into the Pershing Family, expressed a desire to become founding members of a P/A chapter here at SCSU. Keeping with the spirit of family growth, the Brothers here began a regional search for assistance.

This Search led to Howard University (Co G-8-5) . Long distance coordination between the Sisters of G-8-5 and P/R Co. K-4. led to a training period  which proved to be worthwhile and fulfilling. During this training period, the ladies learned P/A and P/R history, Pershing Customs and Traditions, Armed and Unarmed Drill and Ceremonies, Physical Training and various other activities, all of which is affectionately known as the "K-4 Style"

In preparation for their initiation, the ladies conducted numerous fundraisers, practiced D&C, and with the expertise of Ms Tisdale, put together a drill routine. All of the ladies played an individual role in bringing their aspirations to reality. Ms Prioleau, the line President handled the financial and administrative operations, with the assistance of Ms Cooper. While Ms Tisdale and Ms Mitchell were the training officers who put together drill routines and the probate show.

Culminating the training period, the ladies completed the process during spring break. The last week of consisted of various P/A specific training of which of course I have no knowledge. During this time, the ladies searched deep inside themselves for the will, desire and mental fortitude in order to realize their dreams of becoming Pershing Angels.

All of the intense preparation, hard work, and sacrifices culminated with a "moving" ceremony, which was divided into two parts on the final night. The formal initiation and the probate show were conducted in the wee hours of their final night. A short celebration was in order afterwards as the ladies were introduced to their Sisters from area schools, which included Morgan State University, Norfolk State University, and Virginia State University.

After the intake period, the ladies took a well-deserved break, and were welcomed by the Bothers of Co. K-4. The work did not stop there; as the ladies had to undergo the procedures and other needed steps to become an official organization on campus and the Department of Military Science here.

Pershing Angels, Co. K-4, and Pershing Rifles Co. K-4 wish to express appreciation and gratification to P/A Co. G-8-5, P/R Co G-8, Tammie Wright, and all of the other Brothers and Sisters who assisted in chartering this chapter. It took hard work, dedication, communication, and all around love for this Organization to put this together.
